Roy (Dogg) Milton Ward, Sr., passed away on August 18, 2022, at University Medical Center, at the age of 62. He was born on October 3, 1959, in Newburn, Alabama to the late Frank Ward, Sr. and the late Mary Alice Bell Ward Patton. He attended Newburn Elementary School, Sunshine High School, and the University of Alabama.

He later moved to New Orleans, LA and was employed by Russell’s Cleaning Service. It was not long before he and his nephew, Herbert (Brenda) Bell, started their own Carpet Cleaning Business, B and W Cleaning Services, LLC until his death.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Roy never met a stranger. He would go out his way to help anyone. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lourie Matthews-Ward, the proud father of Roy Milton Ward, Jr., and Thailan Jamal Watkins; stepfather to Raynell (Cinchona) King, and Elizabeth Shantell King, PawPaw to Sur Julius King and Evani Vera Brown. Survived by his siblings, Rosie (Joe) McCalpine and Mary (Danny, deceased) Johnson of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Ethel (Tony, deceased) Ward of Greensboro, AL; five brothers, Richard (Mary) Bell of Forkland, AL, Frank (Angela) Ward, Jr. and Cephus (Melissa) Ward of Tuscaloosa, AL, William Ward of Springville, AL, and John (Ann) Ward of Atlanta, GA, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends, employees of the Orleans Parish Sheriff, and B and W Cleaning Services, LLC are invited to a Visitation service at D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue, New Orleans on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held at St. Mary Church, 351 Horse Shoe Bend Road, Greensboro, AL 36744 on Saturday, September 3, 2022 to begin promptly at 11:00 am. Visitation from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Interment will follow at St. Mary Cemetery. Pastor Joe L. Hamilton, officiating. Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, 3933 Washington Avenue.
